Tranquil organic hand-built vessels, which aim to achieve a combination of line, balance and proportion to evoke simplicity and therefore a sense of ease. Then burnished tirelessly with pebbles. Everything in our lives is a moment hoped for, lived, experienced and passed. By tying organic materials to the pot bodies and creating a resist against the smoke, Paula aims to create and develop surface decoration that suggests transitory moments. The ephemeral qualities of the smoke firing are fixed on the surface; the resulting blurred tonal shapes are open to interpretation and are representative of such moments. I hope to capture the viewer, make them stop and gaze for a moment’s calm contemplation, just be now.
