Newmarket Open Day
Preparations for the first Open Day in ten years have been buzzing in the town over the past weeks. The day came and the morning was overcast but dry. I set up my easel in Palace House Reception. I was showing my completed Winners of the Palace House Stakes, painted in support of the Palace House Stables restoration and I was painting Newmarket trainers colours in recognition of their Open Stables and tireless work. Palace House Yard was open with horses in the field for the first time for many years. Chris Garibaldi, the Director of The National Horseracing Museum was giving tours explaining the exciting and ambitious plans for the proposed National Heritage Centre on this site. Also, Chris Bourchier was showing his limited edition Frankel Exhibition in the Palace House Mews. Amazing images captured by Chris can be seen and bought on http://www.chrisbourchierphotography.com By all accounts, a very positive day was had by all the venues open to the public.
